Spreading the word about the high wage job opportunities in advanced manufacturing is so critical for job creation in our state. Rhode Island manufacturers are hiring for skilled technology positions, and just not finding enough workers on the market. That is where apprenticeship comes in. The CNC Machining Apprenticeship takes someone with ambition and a desire to succeed and provides ongoing education and structured on-the-job training that will help them master their skills and maximize their potential — all while earning a decent wage. I am sponsoring apprentices at Swissline Precision, and as chair of the We Make RI board, we are making it easier for more manufacturers to take a step forward to embrace apprenticeship.
